Scape Waterloo co-living scheme DA approved in less than a year

The Living Company and Scape Australia was approved for the Scape Waterloo co-living scheme within the Danks Street South precinct, Sydney, less than nine months after Development Application (DA) lodgement.

Located at 224-234 Young Street, Scape Waterloo is set to deliver 283 new co-living homes and is a short walk away from Green Square and the Sydney CBD.

“This project is about long-term housing supply. It’s about thoughtful density. Thank you to the incredible project team who got us here ahead of programme. Now the real work begins.”

Bruno Deans, Development Manager, The Living Company

The building pairs quietly industrial architecture- masonry, raking rooves and richly coloured metal volumes – with plentiful green spaces, ground floor retail and vibrant shared spaces for residents.

Working with Yerrabingin, The Living Company has grounded the design in the Gadigal and Bidgigal Country the site sits on; from a sunken gully courtyard at ground level, to a rooftop kitchen complete with bush tucker garden. Generous streetscapes to ensure retention of the existing mature trees surround the site.

Nearby in Zetland, construction has also commenced at The Living Company’s Zetland Parkside Build to Rent development, which is scheduled to open in January 2029.
