On 18 February 2025 (12pm to 14.30pm), the Property Council of Australia will host its Build to Rent Outlook, which will provide a comprehensive analysis of the sector’s current landscape and prospects.
The Victorian Build to Rent sector has experienced rapid growth recently, with a significant number of new developments launching to market in the second half of 2024.
However, this added supply will only partially address the substantial increase in demand from renters within an exceptionally competitive market.
The Property Council believes that in the current environment of rising construction costs and ongoing economic challenges, sustaining the necessary development pace will be critical, alongside the need for effective policy support to drive continued growth.
Driven by Property Council advocacy, the Australian Government’s recent reforms have unlocked 80,000 new Build to Rent homes over the next decade, positioning Victoria for significant investment.
At this year’s Build to Rent Outlook, the Property Council will explore how the sector can continue the pace of development that’s needed, and what policy support can and should be provided.
The Outlook will feature a keynote address from Kris Daff, Group Managing Director at Assemble followed by a panel that will be moderated by Steph Harper, National Director at CBRE.
The expert panel includes: Angela Buckley, Fund Manager – Build to Rent Sector Lead, LIV Funds at Mirvac Group, Christian Grahame, Head at HOME, and David Cannington, Head of Research & Strategy at Investa.
