Developer Lendlease, in partnership with Daiwa House Australia, has topped out at the West Tower at Melbourne Quarter Build to Rent development, which sits at the southern edge of Melbourne’s CBD.
As one of three Build to Rent scheme’s being delivered by Lendlease in Australia, West Tower builds on Lendlease’s global Build to Rent portfolio.
Daiwa House Australia, holding a 75% equity share in the scheme, has partnered with Lendlease on multiple developments globally, including Claremont Hall in Manhattan and Elephant Park in London.
Together with Australian developments Exhibition Place in Brisbane and 899 Collins Street at Victoria Harbour, where works began in 2024, Lendlease has more than 2,800 apartments for rent now in delivery.
“Long term rentals provide much needed housing supply and diversity and give people more choice at different stages of life.”
Tom Mackellar, CEO Development, Lendlease
The West Tower will comprise 797 studio, one, two, and three-bedroom Build to Rent apartments. Designed to provide long-term rental security and diversity, this development is set to redefine urban living.
Amenities include a 25-metre lap pool, a fully equipped gym with spa, sauna, and steam room, modern co-working spaces, a cinema, bowling alley, resident lounge, library, media and music rooms, and a pet spa.
Sustainability is a key focus, with the all-electric building targeting a 5 Star Green Star Design & As Built rating. Designed by Fender Katsalidis, the West Tower emphasises both luxury and environmental responsibility, reflecting Lendlease’s commitment to innovation in Build to Rent housing.
“[I am] proud that Melbourne Quarter will further expand our geographical Build to Rent footprint.
“Everyone deserves a place they can call home, with everything a home can and should offer, and West Tower is that place.
“We look forward to welcoming thousands of residents to West Tower very soon.”
Koji Morishige, CEO, Daiwa House Australia
The Melbourne Quarter precinct also recently welcomed Quarterhouse – a three-level venue featuring a pub and rooftop bar, offering residents and workers a vibrant social space.
With its connection to Melbourne’s first Sky Park and proximity to TiTree Park, the area integrates green spaces with urban living, further enhancing its appeal.
Residents are expected to move into the West Tower in early 2026, marking a significant milestone for Lendlease and Daiwa House Australia as they continue to expand their Build to Rent footprint.
