Scott Carver announces planning permit approval through the City of Melbourne and DEECA, for Greystar’s Build to Rent development at 352-400 Macaulay Road in Kensington, Melbourne.
The scheme is Greystar’s first purpose built mid-rise project on a brownfield site that will set the benchmark for urban Build to Rent development.
The 352-400 Macaulay Road scheme will deliver 447 Build to Rent homes in a mix of studios, one, two and three bedrooms. It will include a diverse range of internal and external amenities that cultivate around a large central courtyard.
The Scott Carver designed scheme will feature a central courtyard focused on health and wellbeing, and includes private and shared communal zones, a public pocket park, public pedestrian through links and cafes for activation and community connectivity.
This unique community driven approach and integration into the broader urban grid will enhance the Kensington precinct and its aspirational growth and development as a communal hub.
The Kensington precinct has a unique architectural character rich with masonry and colonial detail, created by the historic industrial lots, fine grain terraces and workers cottages that dominate the area.
Recent planning changes is regenerating and evolving the precinct to include mid-rise residential mixed-use sites, to cater for a growing and diverse community, accommodating over 10,000 residents and 9,500 jobs by 2025.
Macaulay Road is becoming the Build to Rent mecca for Melbourne, with several developers including Local and Assemble already underway with their own projects.
