Melbourne-based Build to Rent development LIV Munro has been shortlisted in the Multi-residential Building category at the 2023 INDE.Awards. Situated in Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market (QVM) precinct, the development has been designed to create a sense of community for its residents.
Now, the 490-apartment development has been shortlisted for the awards, with winners being announced at the INDE.Awards gala in Sydney on 10 August 2023.
The QVM Munro development is a wider mixed-use precinct that resulted from a collaboration between the City of Melbourne and PDG Corporation.
The LIV Munro tower has been designed by Bates Smart for Mirvac and PDG Corporation with the hotel-occupied podium’s double lobby in partnership with Six Degrees.
Featuring a mix of housing stock and shared amenities, the apartments have been designed with neutral tones that suit a variety of household configurations, and allow tenants to add their own sense of style and décor to the design. Balconies offer privacy while opening outwards to commanding views.
The brick and concrete detailing of the podium respects the traditional image of the market shopfronts, while active frontages along the façade featuring Juliet balconies and greenery enhance the public spaces.
Multiple pedestrian linkages are also introduced throughout the site.
LIV Munro’s high-performance building has a significant thermal mass, 60kW PV rooftop solar panels, and energy-efficient facilities that target a 5 star Green Star rating overall and 8 star NatHERs rating for the apartments.
