Urban Property Group’s Fitzwilliam Street Build to Rent scheme has now been approved by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. Pre-dating the HDA, the State-Assessment pathway has facilitated the approval of the development, alongside a rezoning, to facilitate much-needed accommodation in the City of Parramatta.
Designed by competition winning architect SJB, the scheme comprises two high rise residential towers containing 713 Build to Rent homes, including 50 affordable housing dwellings, above ground level retail and a shared podium hotel with 217 rooms.
In addition to affordable housing never envisaged for the site, Fitzwilliam Street will deliver 55 NDIS/SDA apartments and significant public domain upgrades including public through-site links and improved interfaces with Parramatta Station.
“As one of Beam’s first projects, we are proud to have supported Urban Property Group throughout the planning process and the trust they placed in us to help navigate the evolving NSW planning landscape.
“We congratulate Urban and everyone involved and look forward to seeing this exciting project move into construction.”
Statement, Beam Planning
The Fitzwilliam Street approval enables the conversion of the previously approved commercial tower concept into a vibrant mixed-use precinct, adapting to the changing needs of our times and delivering much needed diverse and affordable housing right in the heart of the Parramatta CBD.
This approval marks a significant milestone for both Urban Property Group and the NSW Government, demonstrating what can be achieved through collaboration and a commitment on delivering high-quality planning outcomes and city-shaping schemes.
