Build to Rent provider Sentinel was proud to sponsor the Property Council of Victoria’s recent Build to Rent breakfast in Melbourne.
Keith Lucas, Sentinel’s Managing Director (MD) in Australia joined the event’s panel of experts to take a deep dive into some of the key opportunities and challenges currently facing the sector.
Topic discussions included what recent federal and state policy announcements – such as the Victorian Housing Statement and the lowering of the Managed Investment Trust (MIT) withholding tax rate for Build to Rent housing projects – mean for the sector, and what’s needed next to support the long-term growth and potential of the asset class in Australia.
Sentinel currently has over 1,600 Build to Rent units under various stages of development and operation throughout Australia. The company also recently launched its Australian property management brand, Kinleaf.
Sentinel is active in Victoria’s Build to Rent market. The company’s 172-apartment development – The Briscoe by Kinleaf – located at 151 Hawke Street in West Melbourne is nearing completion. The development topped out last year.
The company also recently announced the acquisition of a 6,528 sqm site for development at 23-47 Villiers Street in North Melbourne.
Located in the heart of the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, Sentinel plans to deliver and manage approximately 350 high-quality and sustainable rental apartments across two buildings on the site.
