PDG makes significant progress at Boyd Village BTR

As construction of Boyd Village is fully underway, PDG has made a series of notable achievements at the site.

Developer PDG has made significant progress on the construction of Boyd Village – a Build to Rent development in Melbourne. Construction started at the end of 2022 and in February 2023, PDG officially started construction with a ground-breaking ceremony.

As of early September, a series of achievements have been reached, demonstrating the development’s steady advancement.

Amongst the achievements include the main core completed to Level two, the secondary core completed to Level 1, upper ground slab pours one to three completed, level one formwork and entry ramp formwork started, and vertical insitu and precast elements ongoing, including the commencement of bricksnap precast to the upper ground.

Upcoming phases of construction promise to maintain this momentum and includes the completion of vertical insitu and precast elements to upper ground, completion of upper ground slab pour four, continuation of service penetrations and cast-ins to slab, completion of Level one slab works, and the commencement of Level two slab works.

The Boyd Village Build to Rent development, in collaboration with Investa and Oxford Properties, is set to redefine inner-city living in Melbourne.

Located at 132 Kavanagh Street in Southbank, the scheme – which will be managed under Investa’s Indi platform – will deliver 434 Build to Rent apartments, inclusive of 40 affordable rental homes earmarked for key workers.

The development is expected to complete in 2025. Once complete, Investa will retain the tower and podium, with the exception of the ground floor and level one council facilities, which will be owned and managed by the City of Melbourne.

Sustainability initiatives will aim to target a five-star Green Star buildings rating, Climate Active net zero building certification, and best practice stormwater management.

The introduction of Build to Rent in Melbourne’s property market represents an exciting shift, presenting several distinct advantages compared to traditional Build to Sell. Benefits include long-term stability for renters, enhanced amenities and services, and a stronger sense of community.

Boyd Village is poised to become a cornerstone of Melbourne’s housing landscape, offering a new paradigm for city dwellers seeking high-quality, sustainable, and community-focused living arrangements.
