Build to Rent platform Novus has secured State Significant Development Approval (SSDA) for its third Build to Rent scheme in Sydney and second in Chatswood – Novus on Victoria.
Designed by Fender Katsalidis, the development comprises 260 studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom Build to Rent apartments across 46 storeys, amenity space, retail offerings and three levels of basement.
The over 1,000 sqm of dedicated resident amenity space includes dedicated wellness podium level with gym, pool, sauna, steam, ice plunge, outdoor terrace and pet park, a mid-rise outdoor BBQ terrace and sporting area, and penthouse level amenities made up of resident lounges, co-working space and private dining – all offering stunning views across Sydney and beyond.
“The thorough process involved working alongside the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Willoughby City Council, and Government Architect NSW, to reach a positive outcome for Sydney’s Lower North Shore and aid in the housing shortfall being experienced across the state of NSW.
“It will provide in excess of 200 construction jobs, 100 ongoing operational jobs, and is expected to generate over $12m annually in retail goods and services spend within the Chatswood CBD from our future residents.

The approximately $330m development is situated on the doorstep of Chatswood Mall, Westfield and the Transport Interchange, connecting directly with the metro, trains and buses. Other major lifestyle and retail precincts include Chatswood Chase, the Concourse Arts Precinct, and several public open spaces and schools within easy reach.
The scheme will incorporate a range of environmental and sustainability initiatives in keeping with the rest of the Novus portfolio and includes both BASIX and NatHERS targets.
