Local: Residential has been appointed as Development Victoria’s partner to deliver the third and final parcel of the Fitzroy Gasworks precinct, which comprises Build to Rent homes.
Approximately 360 apartments, including over 100 affordable dwellings, represent 33% of the parcel.
Working alongside the Inner North Collective joint venture, which is delivering Parcels B and C, Local has stated that it is looking forward to creating a ‘connected and cohesive’ neighbourhood across the precinct.
“Local is delighted to be appointed as the partner to deliver Parcel A of Fitzroy Gasworks, and it is a privilege to be entrusted with the final piece of such an important precinct.
“The delivery of around 360 apartments, including over 100 affordable dwellings, representing 33% of the parcel, showcases Local’s ability to fulfil the vision we had for Build to Rent: to provide excellent long-term rental housing and make a genuine contribution to those who are otherwise excluded from the rental market in suburbs like Fitzroy.”

Already home to the Wurun Senior Campus and Bundha Sports Centre, Fitzroy Gasworks will soon be a thriving new community in one of Melbourne’s most sought-after locations, with easy access to bike trails, public transport, schools and employment.
Last year, the Allan Labor Government announced its target to deliver more housing in Melbourne’s inner-city suburbs Glen Iris and Fitzroy. The Fitzroy Gasworks is one of the upcoming developments in the works that will help aid this goal.
