GEON lodges DA approval for Fairfield & Co BTR

Developer GEON lodges a Development Application (DA) for its Fairfield & Co Build to Rent scheme in Townsville.

Developer GEON has lodged a DA for Fairfield & Co in Townsville, Queensland’s first regional Build to Rent development. This follows conducting deep engagement with major employers and organisations within the City, who expressed significant interest in the proposals.

Designed by COX Architects, the scheme includes 294 apartments across two towers and includes short-term accommodation options. GEON also identified a specific need and demand for the provision of key worker accommodation at Fairfield & Co.

With an emphasis on sustainable design and technology-driven solutions, the Fairfield & Co Build to Rent scheme will feature 625m² of retail, commercial and community spaces, fostering interaction and recreation.

The carefully considered design for the scheme responds to community need, is climatically responsive and provides high quality amenity for future residents.

“Lodging the Development Application for our first Build to Rent  project at Fairfield & Co marks a significant milestone for GEON Living. We are proud to bring a new standard of rental living to Townsville, with modern, sustainable apartments that cater to the evolving needs of the community.”

Dan Moore, CEO, GEON Living

Fairfield & Co will be Townsville’s first large scale Build to Rent development which aims to set new standards in rental living in North Queensland.

The scheme is integrated within the Fairfield & Co mixed-use precinct which combines retail, leisure and entertainment activities. It is a premier shopping and lifestyle destination, which has seen the arrival of key tenants such as Urban Climb, X-Golf and Fish n Flips Swim School.

Located adjacent to the Fairfield Central shopping centre, the site is highly accessible via Lakeside Drive and the Bruce Highway, and it forms part of the broader Idalia District Centre. It is also 7km from the Townsville CBD.

“Fairfield & Co is an established retail, entertainment and lifestyle destination in North Queensland, and our Build to Rent  project will take the precinct to the next level. This development aligns with our vision of creating a truly integrated mixed-use development comprising a mix of residential and non-residential uses that benefit both the residents and the broader community.”

Dan Moore, CEO, GEON Living

The development taps into a growing community with a population of over 50,000 and a median age of 35 years in the immediate area. Driven by the region’s diverse economy, Townsville is one of the fastest growing areas in northern Australia.

With a demand for housing – which will continue to grow – and lack of supply, the Fairfield & Co scheme will support the area to meet their respective housing requirements.

It will set new standards in rental living in North Queensland with its bespoke residential offer that provides a range of apartment types and high amenity in a convenient location.
