Melbourne-born, B Corp certified business – Local Residential – has partnered with one of Australia’s largest and most respected not-for-profit Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) providers – Home in Place – to create an environment where everyone can feel like a Local.
The partnership will see Local provide SDA dwellings at its flagship Build to Rent scheme, Local Kensington. This will include eight huge two-bedroom High Physical Support apartments – each over 140 sqm – which will include separate wings for each resident with a large shared central living and dining space. There will also be two two-bedroom Improved Liveability dwellings.
All SDA dwellings will be available to lease for eligible NDIS participants on either a shared or single residency basis. Local highlights that the Build to Rent model is a fantastic setting for SDA, as it has access to high-quality amenities, on-site property management, stable long-term ownership and no hassles with owner’s corporations.
All residents living in SDA at Local Kensington can enjoy access to all the building’s amenities, which includes the pool, co-working spaces, games and screening rooms, private dining rooms, wellness spaces, pet run, and an art studio.
With construction underway and completion expected by mid-2024, Local Kensington is being built with sustainability and social consciousness at its core. The scheme will be fully electric and net zero carbon in operations – and will deliver 477 Build to Rent apartments across six buildings.
